Climate Product, Service, User Engagement Workshop Set
North Dakota Ag Connection - 03/20/2019

Those who provide information about the weather and those who use that information will have an opportunity to interact during the Northern Plains Climate Product, Service and User Engagement Workshop, which North Dakota State University is hosting March 28.

The workshop will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the NDSU Memorial Union's Prairie Rose Room.

"This workshop will bring together regional partners who disseminate weather and climate information, researchers from the fields of agriculture, hydrology and atmospheric science, and end users who depend on weather and climate data," says Adnan Akyuz, professor of climatological practices at NDSU and North Dakota's climatologist.

Workshop activities will include a mix of educational talks, interaction with researchers discussing current work, and discussions to understand end users' needs and future wants.

Presenters will include individuals from the following groups:

- Center for Regional Climate Studies

- National Weather Service office in Grand Forks, N.D.

- High Plains Regional Climate Center

- North Dakota Atmospheric Resource Board

- North Dakota State Climate Office

- U.S. Department of Agriculture's Northern Plains Climate Hub

The registration is free to climate data end users. The registration deadline is March 25.

"I strongly encourage farmers to attend this workshop so we, as climate service providers, have a better understanding of the needs in the field," Akyuz says.

Attendance is limited to 50. Visit apps.ndus.edu/northern-plains-climate-workshop to register.
