North Dakota Ag Connection - 04/08/2019

According to USDA, the U.S. is expecting to see a slight increase in dry bean acres this planting season. The Planting Intentions report estimates total planted acres at 1.24 million, up one percent from 1.22 million in 2018, excluding chickpeas for comparability.

In North Dakota, dry bean planting intentions are projected at 600,000 acres. That's down six percent from the previous year.

Dry bean plantings in Minnesota are estimated at 175,000 acres, which is unchanged from 2018.

Starting in 2019, USDA now excludes chickpeas from dry edible beans numbers.
