NDSU Yard and Garden Open House Aug. 4
North Dakota Ag Connection - 07/25/2016

The North Dakota State University Department of Plant Sciences will host a yard and garden open house to celebrate horticultural research at the university. The open house is scheduled for Aug. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The open house will feature walking tours of the All-America Selections bedding plant display garden and the NDSU Historic Daylily Garden.

The NDSU Historic Daylily Garden is an official display garden of the American Hemerocallis Society and features more than 1,500 daylily cultivars. This is the largest public daylily collection in the nation.

The open house also will feature campus tree walks and a guided trailer tour of NDSU research plots that will highlight blackberry, grape and vegetable research.

In addition, NDSU personnel will teach sessions under the big tent on turf disorders, potato research, tomato diseases, rain gardens and pollinator garden design.

New this year, the open house will include Last Bend Grill, a food truck that specializes in gyros.

The gardens are part of the NDSU Horticulture Research and Demonstration Gardens at the corner of 12th Avenue North and 18th Street in Fargo. Free parking will be available.
