NDGGA to Host EPA Officials at E-Tour
North Dakota Ag Connection - 06/22/2018

The North Dakota Grain Growers Association is hosting its annual E-tour to highlight the environmental stewardship of the state's agriculture. EPA officials from Washington, D.C., will tour several locations across west-central North Dakota from June 25 to 29.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the E-Tour. NDGGA President Jeff Mertz says the tour has made great strides over the years and continues to grow.

"The E-Tour is the most sought after tour within the EPA, so we know the representatives that come really want to be here," Mertz said.

He says the relationships formed between members of the NDGGA and EPA have been the biggest benefit of the tour.

"It's a huge benefit to have personal EPA contacts, so we know we can get an audience when we go to Washington," Mertz said. "The tour helps them get an understanding of how their regulations affect farmers in the real world, and it promotes open communication between farmers and the EPA to ensure future regulations are practical."

E-Tour participants will visit a variety of agricultural businesses and family farms in Minot, Berthold, Stanley, Williston, Epping, Velva, Karlsruhe and Hurdsfield. This year's highlights will include a presentation on beekeeping, several demonstrations on sprayer technology and chemical application, an aerial tour of the Prairie Pothole Region and tours of irrigated and drain-tiled fields. The tour is open to the public, and a full itinerary is available at ndgga.com/events. For more information please call NDGGA Executive Director Dan Wogsland at 701-282-9361.

NDGGA is a collection of wheat and barley producers and agricultural leaders from across the state. The organization has been serving its members with proactive advocacy, research, representation and education since 1967.
