For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 1 percent very short, 11 short, 81 adequate, and 7 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 3 percent very short, 17 short, 76 adequate, and 4 surplus.

Soybean condition rated 0 percent very poor, 3 poor, 16 fair, 71 good, and 10 excellent. Soybeans blooming was 42 percent, well ahead of 22 last year, and ahead of 24 for the five-year average. Setting pods was 2 percent, near 1 both last year and average.

Spring wheat condition rated 1 percent very poor, 3 poor, 14 fair, 70 good, and 12 excellent. Spring wheat jointed was 97 percent, equal to last year. Headed was 81 percent, ahead of 76 last year and 65 average. Coloring was 5 percent, near 9 last year.

Durum wheat condition rated 1 percent very poor, 2 poor, 16 fair, 71 good, and 10 excellent. Durum wheat jointed was 97 percent, equal to last year. Headed was 68 percent, ahead of 53 last year, and well ahead of 43 average. Coloring was 2 percent, behind 9 last year.

Winter wheat condition rated 1 percent very poor, 4 poor, 32 fair, 58 good, and 5 excellent. Winter wheat headed was 97 percent, near 94 last year. Coloring was 46 percent, near 44 last year. Mature was 6 percent, behind 23 last year.
